On the back of selling out London's Barfly last week, Toronto rock outfit July Talk are celebrating their success with new video 'Beck + Call'. Teaming up with Canadian Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq, the quintet have created an astounding blend of traditional vocals sounds and modern guitar music. The ancient techniques adds something unique to the mix and contrasts with both the heaviness of the Peter Dreimanis snarls and Leah Fay's punky goodness. The band back them up with strong bed of noise and the video is a well thought out collaboration with long time friend Jared Raab as well as two Canadian theatre creators, Norah Sadava and Amy Nostbakke. The result is dramatic and certainly unlike anything we've seen or heard before. One thing is for sure though, it's a celebration of Canadian culture through and through. - SJ
